The Ministry of Culture and Social Rehabilitation and the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs has launched the Bermuda Entertainment Resource Directory (www.berd.bm), a central resource directory for anyone involved in the music and entertainment industry in Bermuda.
The directory, free to join, is designed to help people in the entertainment industry communicate by allowing them to post profiles about themselves and what they do.
Individuals or groups who work as entertainers or those who provides services to entertainers and those operating venues where entertainers perform can benefit from registering on berd.bm because they will able to raise their profile in the community and reach others in the industry.
The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs is encouraging entertainers to register on berd.bm to create their own profile of their skills, services or venue with a photo or other graphic profile or description and enter dates of current or future performances.
The site has already has profiles of established and up and coming musicians such as John Lee, The Tom Ray Band, Val Sherwood, John Lee, Bad Current and many more.
Berd.bm is user friendly and, once registered, other members of the entertainment industry and potential employers will be able to search the web site looking for particular skills or services provided by the entertainer.
The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs believes that being listed on berd.bm will enable musicians to have a more visible presence in the industry and will ensure audiences keep up to date on what they are doing as the entertainers will be able to post details about their upcoming events.
This website is a result of recommendations from the 2004 Hayward Report on Musicians and the Entertainment Industry and was initially developed by the Hayward Report Entertainment Task Force.
